RAMMEL CLUB #094

Glorias Navales (GxNx)
Is a five member ensemble based in Santiago, Chile. The group get together regularly in a private space to jam out a type of late night campfire trance music, bridging the gap aesthetically and stylistically between Chilean folk music (ala Violeta Parra) and ramshackle post-Velvets psychedelia. Their sound – crafted on acoustic guitars, rabel and bombo chino (drum) – have resulted in stunning releases; ‘Carta a Maureen Tucker’ ETCS and ‘Cofradia Nautical’ on Graham Lambkin’s KYE label. The Wire contributor Clive Bell cited Glorias Navales as one of his best shows of the 2017 in the “Critics Reflections section”.

Food People
Are the trio of Lila Matsumoto, Matthew Hamblin & Greg Thomas. Vital Weekly said of their latest release "Vetch" on Chocolate Monk "For a group to deliver something so strong and singular as this right out the gate is remarkable. I’m reminded at times of the Shadow Ring’s inscrutable anti-music with deadpan lyrics muttered as if the vocalist wasn’t aware of being recorded… more like eavesdropping on a rehearsal than listening to a finished product, imparting a disarming intimacy the album. Food People’s combination of seemingly casual murk with passages of time-stopping deep-focus stasis or energy-sapping audible nothing is deadly. Also, I think I heard a violin in there. A fascinating album by a band to watch, for damn sure."

Lucy Adlington
A mercurial dive into a nuclear nightmare. Inspired by chemical weaponry, the Daily Mail, analogue recording and seeing what depths of hell can be unleashed from only 6 strings and a piece of wood. Creeped-out, reverb-driven noise/drone guitar with phantom vocals from the depths of County Durham. Previously working under the name Stealing Kittens, or perhaps you'll recognise her as the guitarist in Durham's finest 'sunglasses band' Mondo Sadists, or from appearances as part of Gnod R&D.
