Bong II
Bong II marks an entirely new phase of existence born from the smouldering cosmic residue of Bong. Reuniting drummer Mike Smith with vocalist/bassist Dawn Terry, the duo now steps boldly into uncharted sonic territory with the addition of Daniel Foggin of Newcastle's Smote. Both a continuation and a transformation, the ritualistic heaviness and repetition continue as ever but the familiar drone monolith exudes strange new frequencies.
Mosquito Farm
A
performance and musical collaboration between Maddie Banwell and Grace Black.
Their performances include many handmade instruments - mechanical, electronic
and acoustic, alongside props and devices to play them with. Some forms are
unrecognizable as instruments, while some resemble more conventional strings,
drums or machines. Their performance is as much object theatre as music - their
physical presence is choreographed with deliberate and focused movement. These
encourage objects within parameters to construct or collapse their set up,
veering between intensity and awkwardness.
Curva Nord
Two
local heroes combine for football-themed pub (synth) rock. Everybody’s
favourite bedroom weirdo Ellis Blake (Weird Fields, Either Or) provides
wonderful musical backing for Alan Martin’s (Krupps, The Alan Years) rantings
and ravings. Funny, bonkers and unsettling; the kind of stuff that AI could
never make but a thousand monkeys at a thousand synths could, maybe.
